My partner and I are quite new to backcountry skiing so we decided to do a day with Kyle as our guide. Kyle had a few different plans depending on the weather and explained the pros and cons of different options clearly.

I did my AST 1 with Kyle in 2023 and had an amazing two days. Heading in with a self-taught rudimentary understanding of avalanche dangers, it was great to be properly educated on the dangers of avalanche terrain and how best to mitigate risk when heading into avalanche terrain. Kyle also covered some general tips for moving through the back country which was a nice addition to the AST 1 content.

Kyle's approach to teaching is fun, genuine and approachable without dismissing the seriousness of avalanche danger (emphasis on FUN!!).

I have also skied with Kyle in Canada, in a non-professional setting and his calculated approach to moving through the mountains even on a casual backcountry day are testament to his professionalism.
